One word, five letters.
No other word can evoke as much passion, fire, or emotion. A word
that can reroute a faltering relationship, that can soften the blow of a
broken promise, or even re-open a chapter, which was previously closed.
A word that divides opinion, but shares meaning all at the same time…Some believe it’s shows submission, devotion, humility, but others believe it shows weakness and lack of control.
If this word is overuse it becomes cheapened and meaningless. Like fine china, which rather than being brought out on special occasions, is used everyday. The first time it appears its beauty is plain for all to see, but as time goes on the finish is lost and it is no longer worth taking notice of.
Underused, it becomes difficult, almost impossible to express without prompting. Its usefulness is missed until often it’s too late.
Imagine the same fine china kept hidden away so well that the place where it has been kept is forgotten and requires a huge effort to locate.
The ‘S’ Word is one of those things that most people will have had to say at some point in their lives. Yet still it remains almost a burden for us to say to one another. We find it easier to express it to people we have no connection with than those who are close to us.
We as men especially seem to have trouble expressing it when it comes to our wives, partners etc.
A lot of men see it as ‘giving in’ or a loss of control. Whereas most women will probably agree that it is a sign of great strength to be able to say it, and then of course, you have to mean it. Saying it for the sake of saying is probably worse than not saying it all.
A simple rule for the S word, only say it when you mean it, and when you’ve said it, show it. I mean, doesn’t sound that difficult does it? Is it really worth losing your relationship over… its one word, five letters.
It’s up to you to decide.
