Words
“Words are of course, the most powerful drug used by mankind.”
- Rudyard Kipling
Words are powerful tools that can hurt, condemn, manipulate, support and motivate.Words have energy and can be used to get what we want. They can bring a lot of changes we'll never have thought possible. Because of our differences, words sometimes become weapons.
There's an adage that says "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me". For most of us, this isn't really true.Words have the power to bruise our hearts. A range of emotions can cause us to lash out, releasing a stream of hurtful words - words we can’t take back. Often, we wish we could.
What do your words say about you?
The words we utter affects our communication with ourselves. They have the authority to impact us positively or negatively. Therefore, it is very important that we choose the words we speak. We need to practice positive self-talk to bring about positive results. It alters our thinking, feelings and behavior to have a greater chance to succeed. Also talking things up when there are issues and concerns should be practiced to aviod any miscommunication .
“Kind words can be short and easy to speak, but their echoes are truly endless.” – Josh Billings
Your words definitely have an impact on those around us, but your choice of words determines what kind of impact.
